Spring Break Updates
Dear Staff, Parents and Community
The President of the United States has now declared a national state of emergency due to the Coronavirus pandemic (COVD-19). In an abundance of caution regarding the safety of our Okolona community, we will be implementing the following protocol:
Students and Staff
Spring Break will be extended to Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 20 for ALL Students: As of now students are scheduled to return to school on Monday March 23. Custodial and Maintenance staff will report to work on Monday, March 16. Central Office Staff and Principals/Directors will report to work on Wednesday, March 18.
Events
All field trips, school programs and events are canceled until further notice.
Decisions regarding athletic events will be made per guidance from the MSHAA.
Safety Precautions
Prior to COVD-19 being declared a pandemic, our staff have been working diligently to regularly sanitize buildings, offices, and classrooms. We will continue the effort in the weeks to come as we strive to keep our school environment safe for students, staff, and families. We also seek your help in this process:
1. If your child is sick, we ask that you please keep him/her at home. This
will help slow the person to person transmission of both COVD-19 and the
flu.
2. Also, frequent hand washing with soap and water for at least twenty
seconds is recommended.
3. When soap and water is not available, please use hand sanitizer.
The district will keep the community abreast of any issues or changes as they arise during this time. However, please know that plans may and decisions are tentative, at best, and can change at any time pending new developments and/or guidance from the Mississippi Department of Education, the Mississippi Health Department of Health, our Governor's Office and/or other related state and local issues.
Sincerely,
Chad Spence
