Today the CTE school in Okolona, MS welcomed Tanya Carter, Sami Roebuck and Ethan Foster from WTVA to speak on the role of a reporter, journalist and producer. Each reporter gave information on their background and how they have developed a passion for the field of journalism. Also, the topic of shadowing and internship was discussed, and the students were ready with question and expressed an interest. They, the reporters, emphasized that social media should be used in a positive light and without even knowing most of them are already reporters. Two of the students who have expressed an interest in starting their own podcast spoke with Tanya Carter and she was more than willing to answer questions, give advice and offer encouragement. Ethan Foster had the students set up the equipment and participate in a live interview and showed the process of following a story all the way through.
Today was a rewarding Workforce Wednesday.
